Las Vegas to London

Armourcoat took a stand at two international design events in May; HD Expo in Las Vegas and DX in London over back to back weeks.  It was quite a challenge, given the distance and timing involved, but we achieved great success presenting a new custom-made decorative wall panel system.  This is evolved from our renowned range of applied seamless wall finishes – and we call it ArmourFX.  Our team of specialist designers and artisan plasterers can work with clients to create integrated custom wall panel systems or design statement single artwork pieces. We can even include corporate logos or themed colours and finish techniques. Once finished, the panels are delivered direct from our single source workshop in custom-made foam packaging to ensure safe arrival on site. As all modular systems, the panels can be hung and removed as required, with no specialist installation necessary.

It's interesting to visit Las Vegas each year for the show and witness the changes taking place on the strip.  There is a clear move away from the older style themed resorts, such as the ‘Luxor’ and ‘Excalibur’, to modern clean styles of contemporary interiors seen in the recent MGM City Center development including the ‘Vdara’, ‘Aria’ and ‘Mandarin Oriental’ hotels.  European day-and-night clubs such as The 'Cosmopolitan' and 'Bagatelle Beach' at the Tropicana are also a new feature.  This gives a fresh, sophisticated spin on the perhaps dated view of Las Vegas.

On the other side of the Atlantic, London is always the focus for the latest design trends and cutting-edge technology.  The new Ab Rogers designed DX exhibition included curated ‘freight’ crates from European events earlier in the year, including Maison et Objet, IMM Cologne together with the Stockholm and Milan Furniture Fairs.  I believe the UK and Europe still lead the world with innovation and design.

We work closely with architects and designers to maintain a leading edge on new trends, colour concepts and design inspiration.  At DX we presented some novel ideas to recreate a concrete effect using polished plaster, and a timber-effect panel – both of which created a lot of interest.  Equally, opulent seamless finishes such as our SMG lacquer-effect are on-trend to create hardwearing yet stylish backdrops for hotel interiors.
